London Grammar
The Greatest Love Tour

When London Grammar embarked on The Greatest Love European tour in 2024, they set out to embody a dynamic new direction while honouring their ethereal indie roots. The project called for a visual identity that would resonate with the band’s evolving soundscape, shaped by intricate emotions and complex lyrical themes.

Evoke Studios had been part of London Grammar’s creative and technical circle since the summer of 2022, collaborating on the festival circuit. That partnership evolved into the 2024 tour, with the band’s Creative Director bringing a clear vision embedded in the album’s distinctive graphics and imagery from its music videos. The task was to take this visual reference, interpret the aesthetic and give it life in motion, ensuring every moment resonated with the audience.

Translating a Visual Language

The London Grammar team provided a strong starting point, with a striking fly motif that became the visual heartbeat of the show. In the videos and album artwork, the fly carried symbolic weight. On stage, it became a living part of the performance with effects inspired by the insect woven into a live experience.
One of the most memorable integrations came through the use of drones equipped with cameras to mimic a fly’s compound vision. This created a mosaic effect, indicative of the fly’s perspective, that formed a composite image on LED structures. Drones captured live footage of both the band and audience, transforming it into textured visuals in real-time and bringing the crowd directly into the creative narrative. Pre-recorded elements seamlessly connected with the fly’s-eye view concept, ensuring the live interpretation reflected the music video.

A Multi-Sensory Performance

At Evoke Studios, vision is just one layer of the experience. Every cue is considered in the wider context of light, sound and environment. This holistic approach meant each visual element of The Greatest Love tour was in perfect conversation with the lighting design, the stage architecture, and the live audio. Effects for London Grammar’s set list ranged from long-exposure trails on live footage to rich colour washes, blended-line visuals, and layered cloth textures that moved like the Northern Lights behind the artists. Multiple live camera feeds, from wide shots to close-ups, were brought together in a fusion that delivered a sense of intimacy even in vast arena spaces.

Collaboration Built for the Road

The tour spanned five countries; France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK, with a total of [X] performances. Each venue presented its own spatial and acoustic nuances, and Evoke Studios’ experience ensured the visuals adapted smoothly to each setting. Evoke Studios’ Content Designer, Urs Nyffenegger, led the visual direction, working with Notch Designer and Operator Danny Fernandez and a wider technical crew to prototype, iterate and refine each sequence. This tight-knit team worked for one week on pre-programming and one week on rehearsals, to ensure that creative authenticity remained at the heart of every decision, and that nothing was lost in translation on stage. The level of integration required both creative sensibility and technical precision. The set list could change from night to night, so the content and cues needed to be adaptable. With Evoke Studios providing ongoing operational support, by touring alongside the band, adjustments could be made ‘on-the-fly’.

Throughout the process, Evoke Studios worked closely with London Grammar’s team, refining the mood board concepts into a final show design that aligned with creative ambition and budget. As always, Evoke Studios’ role is to complement the creative direction and elevate it where appropriate, offering technical insight to open up new possibilities without ever diluting the original vision. This collaborative ethos is one of the team’s defining strengths.

An Experience to Remember

For audiences, the result was an atmospheric blend of sound, light and visuals, where the crowd could see themselves reflected on stage, and where the show’s identity felt as rich and layered as the album it celebrated. It was a tour that stayed true to London Grammar’s aesthetic while exploring new creative territory.

Evoke Studios’ fluency in both creative and technical languages was evident throughout the project. By anticipating the practicalities of bringing aspirational ideas to life, the team ensured flawless delivery. London Grammar continued to work with Evoke Studios into 2025, with the team providing touring operations for their summer festival appearances across Europe.
